Oh Great One, bless thy people,
the people of Mother Earth are all yours.
Grant peace to us, your children ~
Give us freedom in this land which was
once ours and ours alone.
Great forests filled with wildlife
once covered this great land.
|
We shared it with your other creations,
never killing except for need.
We lived together, your people and
the animals and the forest ~
They gave us fur ~ for warmth, and
meat for food, for this alone we killed.
Forest gave us wood to burn,
poles for our teepees, for this
alone we killed....
|
Now, the buffalo are becoming extinct,
the wolves are being slaughtered.
Only the eagle is revered and protected.
The land on which we once lived and
hunted for our food is torn apart.
Forests are cut and cities built,
don't they know we need the trees?
|
How will we breathe, what will we drink?
This land which was ours is filled with
paved roads, highways, busy cities,
chemicals, all kinds of filth
pours forth to pollute our air,
and our water, and all of Mother earth.
|
What is it that I can do ~
We must save our Mother earth.
She must not be torn apart by the
ravages of growing cities and
vast companies, there must be something
I can do - the red man weeps

" Wolf Song" By Brenda Eagle Spirit Woman Oct.'97
|
Music of another Kind echos in the Darkness of night ..
Shadows move against a full moon's light..
A haunting but yet soothing song..
To the Wolves..It belongs
|
The Forest is silent,no man's fire burns..
The within the forest ..the beast take their turn..
Howls embrace the night..
As the wolves take this ...Full moon's bright..
The Haunting but yet Soothing song
To the Wolves...It Belongs

In the beginning of all things, wisdom and knowledge were with the animals, for Tirawa, the One Above, did not speak directly to man. He sent certain animals to tell men that he showed himself through the beasts, and that from them, and from the stars and the sun and the moon should man learn . . . . all things tell of Tirawa.
